ELEMENTS – FIRE
Fire is passion, creativity and light. It is heat and power, courage and force. Literally and metaphorically, fire is transformative and dynamic, changing one state of matter to another. Solid matter becomes ash; solid ice becomes water and then steam.
Connecting to your fire element can be transformative to you, too, as you work to fuel your mind and body connection. It helps to empower you, purifying your energy and helping you to control your personal power. The ultimate goal, of course, is to find a deeper understanding of and relationship to your spirit and the universe. Awareness of the elements can help you reach that greater consciousness.
Fire & The Solar Plexus Chakra
The element of fire is intimately related to the solar plexus chakra. This subtle body energy vortex itself is related to your physical body’s furnace, the digestive system. Your gut is your body’s power system, transforming food into fuel. It’s also your emotional power center, the source of your confidence, ego, reliability and sense of responsibility.
An awareness of this connection between fire and your solar plexus chakra can help deepen your appreciation for life and spirituality. It can also help you open and balance your all-important solar plexus energy center.
The Role of Essential Oils in Fire Connection
Anointing oils or essential oils have a long history to aiding spirituality and the pursuit of a higher purpose. That’s still true today, particularly as you seek connections with the universe’s elements and your own mind and body energy.
Essential oils play several roles, as effective aromatherapy agents, as purifiers, and as mood elevators.
When the aromas of specific essential oils are released into the air, their molecules trigger your olfactory system. This in turn signals your brain to trigger other physiological responses. Most of the essential oils that correspond to the fire element fire you up. They’re energising, innervating, inspiring fragrances such as:
- Black pepper
- Rose Geranium
Fire is known as the ultimate purifier, and its associated essential oils are similarly clarifying. When added to water and spritzed into the air, they fill the room with an energising, clean perfume that inspires your fire element and solar plexus chakra.
Fire-related magickal oils can also be used to anoint your solar plexus chakra. Massaging these anointing oils into your stomach area can help enhance your gut instinct and balance your center of power and confidence.
Aromatherapy-aided yoga is one of the best ways to heal and improve awareness of the fire element and the universe in general. Asanas that generate power and heat help connect you to fire and align your solar plexus chakra. Some believe that these poses even burn out the toxins in your body left by other elements. To harmonise your fire element and solar plexus chakra, mix these movement-focused asanas with ones that promote stillness and cooling.
Some examples of good solar plexus-fire asanas include boat, chair, high lunge twist, swaying palm tree, plank and Warrior III poses.
Meditation aided by aromatherapy is also a good way to experience the power of the fire element and solar plexus chakra. One easy meditation has you sit comfortably, breathing in deeply but normally. Become aware of your breath and the heat of your body. Notice how the air is cool as it enters your nostrils, then feel the warmed air as it leaves your body. Feel your body’s fire and power at work, pumping your heart, sending blood flowing through your veins and innervating every part of your body. Slowly come back to your awareness of your surroundings, grateful to the universe for the power of fire.
There are a variety of other meditations for fire, some to calm the heat of anger, others to harmonise fire with the other elements.
Healing stones and crystals can also play an important role in connecting with the fire element. Simply anoint the stone with one of the specific fire-related aromatherapy oils or our Fire Oil blend and place the stone on your solar plexus area while meditating. Stones that are associated with the fire element include amber, citrine, fire agate, red tourmaline, ruby and opal.
